Sometimes in life, despite the concerted effort to strive optimistically for goals and even with the best of intentions, we are dealt with disappointment and even failure. I always have the “not very productive” tendency to wallow, get angry, then resign myself to the inevitable and begin again in earnest. I guess it’s my indomitable spirit! Anyway, here is my poem about the “wallowing” bits…
Doloroso
Was it made easier for you
With me down on my knees
Head bent in supplication
Gaze upward in kind trust
To deliver your verdict
Such a soft and sweet ruse
Open vowels and hard consonants
Gently issued to reassure and sooth
My keen mind and yet my
Submerged ears heard nothing
How easily you could coax
My passive acceptance, my naiveté
About how good this would be and
With my sweet and graceful smile
I became your sacrificial note
