BSD (Bermuda Shorts Day) Jello Jigglers

One of the chief benefits of becoming an adult, is that by now we have accumulated a vast archive of life experience
upon which to draw, so that we can dispense a little

advice

whenever needed.

If we were to be completely honest with ourselves,

some of our worst mistakes were entirely preventable…

Like that time when my University girlfriends and I planned a little “garden party” for ourselves..

(no lawn bowling or tea cakes for us)

We had every detail planned well in advance: the food, bikinis, beach towels, music, a swimming pool nearby, apartments next door to crash in and a plastic-lined large garbage pail filled with…

Yukka Flux (aka Yuckaflux)

(this may be a Canadian tradition.. you’ll have to let me know)

Jodi from Saskatchewan posted a tiny little Yukka Flux recipe here…

but this Urban Dictionary definition was more along the lines of the monster we’d created:

1. yuckaflux
A random mixture of alcohol and fruit. Normally produced in large quantities when party goers bring different types of alcohol, combine them in one communal container, and add chopped fruit.
“We mixed up the biggest batch of yuckaflux I’ve ever seen and spent the night telling stories and getting drunk.”

It is, indeed, a very pretty, healthy looking, but deadly concoction of gigantic proportion…

Well, let’s do a little math now, shall we?

115 lbs girl’s weight + 5 hours sunlight + minimal food + 1/20th of Yukka Flux barrel

= ummmm… I can’t remember…

Fortunately I was scooped up, whisked upstairs and tucked safely in bed
(I love how friends look out for each other that way!)
…where I woke up in a daze the next morning, wondering how I’d miraculously been transported home.

A few weeks ago, my daughter’s University had their BSD day..

Bermuda Shorts Day

affectionately anticipated as the bedlam filled Tight and Bright day of celebration for the end of classes.

Ever the thoughtful little baker, my daughter decided to make a batch of my

Kindergarten Jello Jigglers
…pretty colorful heart-shaped jello snacks

to share with her fellow revellers.

When I saw them in the fridge, I was filled with pride.. “My daughter is turning out just like me,” I thought and I couldn’t resist sneaking one little taste..

..that’s when I knew my daughter was, indeed, turning out just like me and no advice in the world would save them from themselves,

she and her friends were going to be learning this lesson, the hard way!!

This recipe comes with a warning.. unlike regular Jello Jigglers.. ingestion of more than one of these BSD Jigglers may cause instances of poor judgment and lack of self-control.. don’t say I didn’t warn ya’!

If this photo looks a bit blurry to you.. well…
