All A-Flutter for Spring!

We’ve got Snow in April again!
and like little butterflies, we’re all waiting to shed our winter coats and fly away from our cocoons.

Back when I did a makeover of my studio, I saw a pretty Butterfly Shadow Box at Steeling Home, but I just couldn’t get my head around the thought of those tiny creatures being captured in a box for all eternity.
{ I think there’s a Fairy Tale in there somewhere }
Anyhow, I knew there had to be another way.

Then I saw a little craft at Young House Love that set my heart a Flutter. It was done with butterflies cut out from a brochure. I wanted something a little more artsy so I changed it up.

I thought I was so original and creative, turns out this craft’s been done before.
But no matter, it was original and creative for me, totally fun and easy to make.. and that’s all that matters, right?

I’ve had this particular Shadow Box for.. well, forever and it was home to a collection of rocks. It desperately needed a make-over and some color.

I’m not a scrap booker with a fancy paper-cutting machine. So I was delighted to find this pretty butterfly punch from Martha Stewart that makes solid and cut-out butterflies, so that added lots of possibilities.
{ You might remember my Valentine Heart punch from this craft. }

{ I was also thrilled to have a 40% off any one item coupon at Michael’s. There’s an app you can add to your phone that automatically finds the latest discounts for you.}

I picked up a few Springy pieces of scrap book paper that all had varying hues, an analogous color palette and in a variety of patterns.

I’m imagining this redone in different color palettes.. aqua, blues and whites for the lake.
Pinks, peaches and papers with romantic handwriting for a wedding table.

Pinks or blues for Baby Showers.

I will probably change this up in a few months when summer comes.. although right now it’s hard to imagine it ever will!

There are so many places you can go with this craft.

My pins were just a packet of pretty pearl tipped bouttonniere (phew, had to google that spelling) pins.
