I woke up relieved that my headache was gone and I was surprisingly happy to continue on with my Reboot with Joe cleanse. I am not the kind of girl who usually gets past one day of any cleanse, so this was a surprise. Headache gone, rested, we brought out the ingredients for our morning juice. We’re finding that the juices that only require four ingredients are more appealing and so much quicker and easier to make.
Breakfast
- 4 apples
- 4 carrots
- 2 lemons
- Core and cut apples into wedges. Rinse and pat dry carrots. Scrape lemons to remove thin yellow skin, section then remove seeds.
- Add to juicer, alternating ingredients
Mid-Morning
90kCal per serving
Drink 16 oz (500 ml) coconut water
I forgot the mid-morning coconut water again because I went to the gym, came home hungry and went straight to the lunch juice. We decided to repeat a favorite from yesterday for lunch today. I have been drinking more water today and feeling surprisingly energized!
Lunch
- 4 apples
- 4 cucumbers
- 16 kale leaves (Tuscan cabbage)
- 2 handfuls of parsley
- Rinse, core and cut apples into wedges. Rinse and cut cucumbers in half lengthwise then quarter in wedges. Rinse and pat dry kale leaves. rinse and pat dry parsley.
- Add to juicer, alternating ingredients.
The mid-afternoon snack juice was hands down my favorite of the recipes. I’ll be making this one again for sure!
Mid-Afternoon Snack
- 1/2 medium pineapple
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 lemon
- 1 inch (2.5 cm) piece of ginger
- Cut pineapple into sections, make sure core and outer skin is removed. We just bought pineapple sections already prepared. Rinse and quarter the bell pepper. Scrape the thin yellow skin of the lemon then quarter and remove seeds. Peel the ginger.
- Add to the juicer, alternating ingredients.
Supper was a repeat of Green Lemonade from lunch yesterday.
Supper
- 2 apples
- 4 handfuls of spinach
- 16 kale leaves (Tuscan cabbage)
- 1 cucumber
- 4 celery sticks
- 2 lemons
- Core and quarter apples. Rinse and dry spinach and kale leaves, cut cucumber in half lengthwise and then quarter into wedges. Rinse and cut celery into quarters. Rinse, dry the celery and quarter. Scrape the thin yellow skin off the lemons, leaving the pith. Quarter then remove seeds.
- Add to your juicer, alternating ingredients.
Early evening I had an Elevate Me Bar, I felt hungry and likely it was as a result of lifting weights earlier in the day. I think it’s important to respond to your body when it’s telling you it needs more fuel. Elevate Me Bars can be purchased in bulk at Costco, they’re one of my favorite protein bars because they’re made in North Vancouver, Canada and ingredients are so pure. They are made with dried fruits, nuts and natural protein. They’re also one of the highest sources of protein I’ve found on store shelves.. that still taste good. You can also find them at London Drugs and whole foods grocery stores. So this protein bar was my substitute for the evening Dessert Juice.
It’s been two days and I’m starting to feel like I need to seriously have regular food. I’m wondering if I’ll wake up ready to juice again for the third and last day. Given that my goal was never to lose weight but to feel healthier, I feel I’m really getting the “hang” of making juices and can see that I could make them using what I’ve got in the fridge and not necessarily from a recipe. The benefits of doing this have been fantastic, I can also see that juicing would be a great healthy quick lunch or snack, but supper would definitely be “real” food after this cleanse is over! I can’t wait to crunch into a salad!!

On a side note, my Cinnamon Bark Candle craft is up on the Good Housekeeping website again today under Peaceful Home Decor:)
You can do it. It will make everything taste so much better too. I really shed my sugar cravings for a good month or so. I’m ready to do another 3 day juicing to reset but am not finding a good 3 days to do it. cheers x
Good for you for sticking with it! I actually have never juiced, I’m more of a smoothie girl. I love, love to eat veggies and have a strong gag reflex, so I have no idea if I’d be able to down liquid cucumbers! Do they taste good?? They sure look pretty though!
Thanks for the name of the protein bars… My husband and I are going to be going on Isagenix soon and a good snack is needed… Diane
Congrats on day two for your cleanse! I really liked that movie, it was very interesting. my brother is doing a similar juicing to manage an illness just as Joe did. I wish you well.
Go Barbara! I’m super impressed that you have done two days of it. I don’t think I’d last one. Looking forward to hearing how you feel after the last day!
Congrats on getting through day 2. I think the second and third day are the worst but after you get past that you will be alright. You make even your juicing photos look pretty. Take care and don’t get too run down. BAM
Congratulations, you made it through day 2, 1 more to go, you can do it. Looking forward to reading about the results.
You go girl, these juices get better and healthier 😀
Cheers

Day Two under your belt! I’m very impressed, Barb. For never having done a cleanse before, you’re doing remarkably well. Looking forward to reading about Day Three. Good luck!
well, you’ve answered my question! You’re hanging in there. Good for you. I’m impressed with the recipes, and very impressed with YOU!
Australian Gold Juice is something that talks to me.
What a challenge you gave yourself and you finished it too.
Only the thought of not eating anything substantial – Congratulation.
