fog at daybreak this white-wash oscillates, swells round, muffles bird cry and forlorn queries beckon closing in, a woollen wrapped mist, the morning speaks of cold rain ahead no distant view nor dreams of sea, just gaudy stillness lingers here within set adrift, twittering melodies echo through fog, entreating cries stumbling each to other these waves of rain’s wet mist linger, creep stealthy over…

I have a wee test for you today. (come on, there’s only one question!) Which of the following answers correctly completes this question: Scientists have proven that: (a) humans have a predisposition for enjoying food that is “hard-wired” into our genes. (b) pleasure stimulates an array of physiological processes directly affecting neuroendocrine, inflammatory, immunological and…
Great post… I actually got the answer right… Oh and thanks for the brew and food…yummy it was… To look at ![]()
Have a great day!
all of this is fabulous and i think i might drink the guinness while I am cooking. Our asparagus is not up yet but it will be soon, In fact i had better hurry up and get to work in that patch! YUM!! gorgeous page.. c
I am so excited for asparagus season approaching! Did I tell you we have two patches in our backyard?!! Wa hooo!!
I really wish I drank….
What a charming post, Smidge! And this looks so delicious. Happy St. Pat’s to you too — may it be a pleasurable one.
If the kids love it you know it’s a special recipe. I love it already…even though I’m plenty-nine!
I did ‘f’! Unfortuntely i can only drink Guinness if its mixed with champagne. Unusual sounding but not bad.
Your asparagus tart looks so moreish!
Mandy
Not sure if that’s the proper pouring technique. I will go practice and come back. Ha. The tart looks amazing.
“Multiple guess questions”? You better me another Guinness beer. I loved your wee little poem and your tart recipe looks so simple and lovely. My boys are not fond of asparagus either, maybe its something to do with the whole texture thing? what do you think? However, if you smother cheese all over bread and hide in a few vegetables they might not even notice. Take care and Happy Patty’s day to you. BAM
You had me at “pleasure-inducing Irish brew”. The tart looks amazing and will be a perfect use of the young tender spring asparagus shoots just starting to pop up now.
That roasted asparagus tart is so beautiful and elegant. I would probably eat the entire thing myself while my husband wasn’t home LOL.
“That she whipped up a batch/Sent them straight down the hatch.” That fourth line is genius — best line I’ve heard in a limerick in a long while. Pretty tart, too, although I don’t touch that green stuff (I could make it with spinach or arugula though).
I love asparagus season!! I know I’d just love this Smidge. Thank you for sharing it! I’m happy to hear your son liked it too. That gives me hope for Hubby, who also doesn’t appreciate asparagus the way he should
Your limerick is wonderful! It made me smile. See—>
I bow to your many talents my friend…Have a wonderful weekend Smidge! xoxo
Loved the limerick, made me smile too…
and the asparagus tart is sublime! I never used roasted asparagus for this type of recipe, what was I thinking? It is the best route to take!
hope you will have a great weekend, whatever is on your menu…
Ohmegosh, this looks so good and delicious!!!! (and it’s almost lunch time here)
Why do I always come across most delicious stuff when my stomack is growling?!
Very Pretty.
Wonderful post, Smidge… food certainly pleasures me a great deal – or some less odd sounding version of the same sentence… I shall dutifully have a Guinness tomorrow, after my concert, not before. That’s a seriously delicious tart by the way – seriously good.
I love how you began this post ![]()
Though let me clarify – test does not equal pleasure unless given by food blogger ![]()
And your roasted asparagus tart is so tasty! I love it!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Wonderful tart!
You are making me so thirsty and hungry right now:) Have A Great Weekend – Happy St Paddys Day!
Your asparagus tart is making me drool! How yummy!
My answer was wrong too…
But the recipe excellent… I haven’t heard this one before seems so beautiful and delicious too. Thank you dear Barbara, have a nice weekend and Happy St.Patrick Day, with my love, nia
Love the quiz, love the limerick, love the tarte! Happy early St. Patty’s to you!
Lovely as usual! I will not go into one of my asparagus rants again but I do love it (soooooo much!) and this this tart!
This tart looks oh, so very good, Smidge! Simple enough to make, too. I toured the Guinness brewery in Dublin. At the end, as with most brewery tours — or so I’ve heard … ahem — they offer you a pint. Each pint is served with a shamrock outlined in the foam. At the time, I was tending bar here in Chicago and I watched that man serve pint after pint. I never did learn how to do it. And I spilled a whole lot of Guinness trying.
Love, love, love the Limerick – clever you. And a very Happy St Patrick’s Day to you too. xo
OMG – I despise cooking but you may just have me tucked in for this one cuz! ymmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! xoxoxoxoxo
and yes I answered all of the above…of course I KNEW that was a tricky answer (the one you made up) but based on deductive reasoning I would say it holds true anyways!!!
duh…tricky ANSWER I mean…hehehehe…maybe I need to make that yummy dish and eat to feed my poor tired brain…grin
I’m a huge fan of asparagus and that looks very delicious and the colour is of course appropriate for St Patrick’s Day. Inasmuch as I have eaten plenty of asparagus, I have never had a guiness. Today would be a good day for my first. Love the limerick! xx
You know I don’t miss school! Now as for that tart, that is a beautiful thing. It definitely feels like spring when you start to cook with asparagus.I could see myself making it soon.
Ha! I book marked an asparagus tart just like that the other day to make, now seeing yours I really HAVE to make one
yum!
Beautiful post and love the tart!
Happy Pat’s Day!
Well that got the brain kick started and yes I went for (f)!!!! Do you really like Guinness? I couldn’t help but notice the familiar can from your photo. Being Irish it’s a logo that’s imprinted on my brain with an indelible marker!! There’s nothing nicer than having a glass of Guinness beside an open fire, warm and cosy. Drink aside this recipe looks amazing and one I definitely want to try!! Thanks for such a great post. Rhoda x
Stunning shots of the Guinness and more of my favourite asparagus! Top of the Mornin´(well, afternoon now) to you
I win, I win!!! OK, I’ll have a Guinness if you insist! Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you too. I love that asparagus tart. Is asparagus in season in Calgary? It is not quite yet in Toronto, but with the upcoming week, with temperatures soaring into the high teens and early twenties, it may soon be!
I guessed right! =D
The Roasted Asparagus Tart… wow, I am impressed, I am disturbed and want it now!
Your pictures look amazing! =P Great fit with the irish brew, by the way, happy st.patricks day!
Positively glorious Smidge! This gets pinned! Love it! xoxo
hi, i love your post it’s absolutly amazing, i have not been blogging for a while but i will soon be back
I just stumbled upon your page today, what a beautiful blog. I can’t wait until the asparagus season! This tart looks delicious!
Now this looks like my kind of way to eat asparagus! Yum!!! Hope you had a great St. Patty’s Day Smidge.
Oh, boy, *that’s* pretty. And you, my dearest, you are so gorgeous inside and out that I can’t think of any reason why *more* of you would be anything but a fabulous thing!
Hi, cuz!! How sweet:) of you to come by here and leave a comment <3 I knew you would get it right.. you were always smarter than me:) Love you xoxoxo and have a wonderful week!!
This look so good! I can’t wait for my asparagus to start popping up out of the ground so I can make it.
Me too.. only I don’t have a garden
I just love reading your posts – it always seems to be when I need a break from work and the beginning of each post really does transport me to a different world. And to end them on food – well, there really is no better ending, is there ??
I love this asparagus tart. The idea that the pastry will puff up and pillow each stalk of asparagus really appeals to me.
Wow, every time I check your Blog – I get hungry. Nice foods again today, and I liked your beginning test! You do cooking well! I will have to stick to my garden blog. That is where I do my creativity like you do with food. If you want to look, check out http://www.gardensatwaterseast.blogspot.com Some nice photos that will wet your appetite in other ways. Jack

Raise your hand if your New Year’s Resolution was to EAT HEALTHY Raise your hand if you had the fortitude to actually EAT HEALTHY You see, I check my Stats every now and then and I’ve noticed a trend… Whenever there are photographs of, say.. a decadent brownie, scrumptious cookie or a luscious cake
I have this on my list of salads to make while asparagus is in season (just love asparagus). Your photos are lovely. And, I think if we eat a beautiful salad like this with just a splash of dressing then hopefully we can indulge in a small dessert. Well, thay’s my plan anyways.
beats me… I often wonder the same, I get more hits and pins if the post is about ultra caloric stuff…:-)
I can only speak for myself, I love to look at those posts, and drool over the pictures, but I am more inclined to actually download and make a recipe like this one you posted today. It is. exactly the type of food I like to eat. “for real”, so…. keep them coming!
Oh my goodness. As good as the brownies look, I have to say I would SO eat this instead. Hubby has a horrible sweet tooth, and he’s been indulging a lot lately, so I think I’m just tired of those things for now. I’ll be posting a lot less of those in the near future -which will no doubt bring my views down too. Funny how that works…
This looks incredibly refreshing….I can’t wait for asparagus season to start!
What a beautiful salad Smidge. But the brownies look so good too. Which one would I click on more??? I don’t think I want to know the answer! That is a beautiful colourful refreshing looking salad though. I’m sure it was delicious but probably you should serve the brownies after for dessert. xx
I’ve witnessed the same numbers Smidge…I always figured people like looking at what they can’t have…not as a form of self-torture but rather as an occasion to savor with their eyes, take a deep sighing breath, then turn away. A practice in self-discipline. Maybe in publishing these gorgeous multi-million calorie posts you’ve been performing a much-needed public service. For this, our indebtedness to you is boundless! Thank you Smidge!
(And, by the way, this salad is better-than-brownies gorgeous! I Love it!)
I don’t know, Smidge. It is possible that people have their own ways of making salads and search more often for special desserts or treats. I know I most often do searches when I’m looking for how to handle unusual ingredients like the fresh chicory leaves I got last week. I read your blog every week to look at the photos and read the recipes, sometimes to marvel at what you have done with frosting…
You must be a professional photographer. Your photos are amazing! That is so funny that you noticed the rise in views with chocolate!
It looks wonderful and healthy and I had my hand raised the whole time
I try to eat healthy but at the same time I love to bake which drives my husband crazy
I usually give away most of my sweets and keep the healthy ones …I try….haha. Jen
What a great salad, Smidge! Asparagus is just starting to hit our store shelves, so, your timing couldn’t be better. More that anything, I want to try your salad dressing. That sounds wonderful!

Avo. Ca. Do. YUM!
I like that plan!!
Now that’s so true.. it’s interesting to see which recipes are downloaded as well!
This salad is simple, healthy and beautifully presented – lovely recipe

Wonderful recipe Barb! I actually just bought a bunch of asparagus from the CFM and … well… didn’t really know what to do, they just looked really pretty.
I might drool over the brownies, but I love the look of the salad, and it is more inspirational
Beautiful salad
Beautiful salad
Oh, I really like how those asparagus ribbons look! And in my book, avocados are a dessert. And eye candy, too. Especially when they’re photographed this nicely.
When I’m in a masochistic mood I hit ‘thisiswhyyourehuge.com’.
Beautiful recipes… beautiful photographs and poetical touches I loved as always your post, dear Barbara, Thank you, have a nice day, with my love, nia
This salad looks great. I love using asparagus or zucchini ribbons in my salads. They taste delicious and also add a very sophisticated look. Great recipe.
Guess what’s for lunch! I have some marinated artichokes I can throw in there, too!
That salad is drool worthy too. I love red grapefruit and avocado. Together? Even better. Oh and throw in asparagus, awesome.
Ha! Great way to monitor stats. I just check them to see who’s subscribed. And, I’ll definitely be checking in more on non-brownie posts if the salads have avocado like the one you posted today!
The Chocolate got my attention. However, I am pleasantly surprised that the thought of a light salad with avocado and citrus was just as satisfying. Now I don’t even have guilt that I have been bad or overindulged. Your avocado is perfectly ripe. In Hong Kong their avocados are way over ripe and brown or hard as rocks and never ripen. I have heard it your put the avocado still whole in the microwave for just a few seconds it helps them ripen. Have you tried or heard of this trick?
I had my hand raised the whole time too, haha! I try my best to eat healthy but I just have the best recipe for a warm brownie that’s perfect with vanilla ice cream. I posted it so others can share its goodness, mwahahaha!
Great post!
I have all the ingredients necessary to make this salad but was going to use them in another dish. I think I’ll divide and concur (both).
I love shaved asparagus!
I raised my hand – once only – it was one of my resolutions to eat a healthier diet this year. Generally speaking my diet is good but I am prone to temptation, chocolate brownies being a prime example. This post inspires me to start eating more salads as your Spring asparagus salad looks delicious and sounds easy to prepare.
Lovely salad! I sure need a nudge in the right direction!
What a great looking salad, Barbara; our temperatures are going to soar toward 20°C by the weekend, I am so excited. I have to admit, I am one of the few who adore salads…I even order them when I eat out, I just wish they wouldn’t dress them so heavily in restaurants.
I was tricked into reading this post! But it’s ok, because I love avocados!
I guess I’m in the minority because a great salad catches my attention every time!! I do love desserts, but I’m always looking for creative, delicious salad recipes….and this one as beautiful as it sounds soo good!!
Hah! Love your deep thought there at the beginning – I was wondering why my reader was showing me a preview picture of brownies for the salad.
I think the salad looks lovely, and will check out any of your recipes whether healthy or not.
THat’s so true about views spiking up whenever naughty sweet recipes are posted but you’ll hopefully be pleased to know that it was your salad title that drew me in because I love them. Plus you’ve got a generous amount of avocados in yours, which gets my vote!
This is so gorgeous!!!! I just love avocado. Do you think I could substitute watermelon for the grapefruit?
I tell you I like coming her for desserts and healthy meals – they’re all so beautifully done.
Sparg (asparagus), as I call it is one of the most wonderful veggies! It is so good for you, and is so underutilized! Thank you for this lovely recipe. I have never seen an asparagus ribbon salad.
It would be worth trying, but I think the citrus in the grapefruit helped keep my avocado from turning brown.. not a big deal if you’re eating the salad right away? xo
Hi Barbara!
This salad is a work of art!!
That is the most gorgeous salad I have ever seen. The photography is really artistic as well. I would swoon for and drool over this salad any day.
Just look at that avocado and the asparagus in this salad. I LOVE IT. Perfect for lunch as well. And you know how I love a nice brownie
Two of my favourites in one salad — how could I not love it? Your salad and your photographs are beautiful. I’m so glad I found your site!
Beautiful salad! Wonderful photos.
Fabulous – exactly my kind of salad, and when it looks this beautiful you know it has to be so good for you too!
Ok, this looks FANTASTIC!!!! Must try. Besides, I love fixing avacado…it’s so fun!
Sounds like a perfect use for my newly bearing asparagus plants… Your photos are gorgeous as always…
Wow! This is a very refreshing salad and I just love the avocado in it. Slicing the cucumber thinly is a great idea. Can’t wait to try this salad!
Uh-oh! If you’re going to hold me responsible for my *virtual* lust I’m doomed. But I don’t limit it to only sweet foods, if that’s any consolation . . .
Asparagus and avocado – YUM!
wow, that salad looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing
You make me want to voluntarily eat salad !!!

Event: Spring When: March 20th in the wee hours of the morning I thought I was feeling better (until I got this nasty cold)… nevertheless, I’ve begun spring-cleaning my home, moving and rearranging furniture (putting away my Star Candles from Christmas.. shhhh) and taking out my sea shells. As you know from my last post, I’m still…
Slurping green spring in the form of your soup sounds so delicious today! And the thought of warm bare legs again makes me nearly delirious! What a pretty post today Smidge (as IF that’s anything new!)
You can definitely share that bottle of champagne with me. I love colors that bring out life and I don’t care whether it’s spring or winter, I refuse to succumb to muted hues. I even have a yellow pea coat and match it with kelly green scarf I found in a thrift store. It just brightens up my day even when we’re buried in feet of snow.
yay for spring! Also, I want to ask you, what flowering plants are easy to take care of? I would like to plant something but start small. Nothing too fussy, maybe a small plant box I can hang on our deck banisters.
thanks! In the summer, I’ll be moving back in with my mom and I have the whole backyard to myself.
“Erudite?” – You are far too kind. Thank you for the shout out. I think we pretty much made each other’s day and are even, though perhaps you are more even than I am so we’ll have to do this again!!
Also enjoyed this colorful spring post. It so happens my birthday is March 22, and this year I have plenty of choices for proper birthday treat inspiration thanks to my fellow bloggers. Have a great Sunday!
This soup looks wonderful and embodies spring. I can’t wait until fresh asparagus is in the market here…must try this. Love your flower shots…so pretty!
A terrific way to welcome a new season. We haven’t had much of a winter but feel ready for Spring and all the lovely colors and tastes and smells it brings! Your asparagus is enticing.
You are an artist dear Barbara… Whatever you make stands in artistic way… I love to visit your blog, I love to read your poeticl spirit into your words… This is beautiful and romantic touches for me… I loved the photographs… The colours fascinated me. Spring I think is your heart too. Because you kept these beautiful touches in all winter days too… I felt like that. Thank you, have a nice week and wonderful spring days… With my love, nia
This soup looks delicious – need to start making soups with my Vita Mix. Loving your post – thanks for sharing:)
Lol, you’re too cute, spree… Slurping spring, indeed! Love it!
You’ve reminded me that I should go thrifting soon! It’s been a while and that’s such a great place to find bright colors to add to my wardrobe!! I will discuss your question with my mom.. She’s the gardener extraordinaire! I do know that these pretty pansies, while hearty in early spring, do die off very early and your planter would be left without any flowers mid-summer. So I use a few but between longer flowering plants. What climate do you live in??
What a perfect spring dish!
This post IS spring! And very welcome, for sure.
I just love your flowers. I’d give anything to be able to take care of flowers the right way
I must try harder this year, because I love the environment they create. All of these colors really do put me in a spring state of mind. It’s a good place to be, too. I think the soup fits perfectly into that state of mind. Asparagus is one of my favorites, but I’ve never tried a soup with it. This looks really good Smidge. Thank you for the recipe!
Linky Love is cool! You’ve given me some new places to explore….thanks! And thanks for the linky to me too.
Feel better soon dear!
Thanks, Betsy.. I thought so too and am so glad to have made it!
Lol, yes, let’s keep doing this again and again:) Happy Birthday in advance, although I’m sure you will have posted something special for your day!! Xo Smidge
Thank you so much… I’m desperately trying to rush spring along!!
nia, thanks so much for your beautiful comments this morning!! xoxo
That Vita Mix would be so awesome, I wish I had one!!
Thanks!
Oh, Sarah.. I’m sure trying!! I need to be well to do my volunteer work on Fridays and I’ve already missed last week!!
For what it’s worth my dear, mine lasted 4 days or so. And after reading your comment earlier, it really does sound like you have the exact bug I had. Oh yes! You have to get better for next weeks volunteer work! People need you!
A big yes to spring colours in the garden, for clothes and for food. Fresh zingy greens, hot pinks, bright yellows. Bring ‘em on!
Lovely pictures as always, Barbara! I always derive pleasure at just going through the entire presentation. It is romance, beauty and poetry combined.
What a beautiful post – writing, recipe and photos ![]()
And thank you very much for such a sweet shout out
Cheers

I’m in Western NY right now, near buffalo. It’s a little cooler than New Jersey. Anything is fine, as long as it lasts me during Spring.
Thanks!
Great photos and links. And, your chili croutons sound delicious.
I used to hate asparagus, but now I love it and am so excited for our two patches to do their thing this spring!
What a great soup for this time of the year! And I could snack on those croutons long after the dinner dishes have been put away. I had better get 2 baguettes. Feel better, Smidge .. er … Barb!
I always had myself down as the cookie monster (if you know sesame street you’ll know…)
I am one of those people who doesn’t eat asparagus, but I liked learning about chili croutons — thanks!
Thanks:)
Oh, my goodness… My next recipe will be fantastic for your asparagus! You’re sooo lucky to have a big garden to grow this in!!
Lol… I will… Um, John!
Hahaha, yes.. I definitely am well acquainted with the Cookie Monster!!
You’re very welcome, Sharyn… You might not like the next recipe either, but it can be adapted;)
There were two patches at this house when we bought it 6.5 years ago. It’s been so great! Every year we indulge for about 2 weeks!
I think this recipe is exactly what I am going to use for the asparagus that is wilting in my fridge. Thank you for the inspiration, Jen
You’re so welcome:)
I love asparagus and this soup sounds so darn good!
I am so so so ready for spring, too! And, like you, I kinda go overboard with the bright colors and flowers – it just makes me so happy! Love the outdoor sunny pics of your gorgeous soup!
Apparently, when I talk about spring, I go a little crazy with the exclamation points, too.
I can’t tell you how much I love your blog!!! It is just so amazing and inspirational. Your pics are beutiful, recipes are superb, and tips are so spot on!~ Thanks for always brightening my day!
I’m with you Smidge! I love, love, love all of the color that’s popping up for spring. And I can’t wait to pull out my white pants again. I love pairing my white pants with various bright colors. Yay for spring!!!!
wishing you an awesome spring Smidge! We are still in the throes of summer here – lucky us
Just beautiful – photos, recipes, writing, the whole ‘atmosphere’ of your blog! Have a wonderful week filled with sunshine and Spring!
I’ve tried to search for your zone, I think you’re a zone 4? I found a website with pretty spring containers, but some of those look a little iffy.http://www.bhg.com/gardening/container/plans-ideas/spring-container-gardens/
I think to be sure your best bet is to ask at the garden center where you buy your plants.. they would definitely know. The other option is to make them small and move them in at night:)
I love asparagus! nom nom nom. And this sounds amazing! =)
Hi, I just remembered that I tagged you in a post last evening and forgot to tell you. But having seen this post, although I’ll leave the link, I completely understand if you don’t take part. Have a nice day! ![]()

I just love that dress.. and those flowers are just incredible and so beautiful. Spring is in the air and I can’t wait to break out my spring attire. I love the asparagus soup as well.. green and delicious
Do you really have all those shoes? Wow, I’m impressed! The asparagus soup looks and sounds divine. It’s almost asparagus season in Toronto, and you can bet I will be making a soup with them!
I love, love, love COLOR! Keep it coming, Smidge, and I hope your cold goes away soon so you can enjoy it
~Ruth
Mr Chocolate recently told me he didn’t much care for asparagus… came as a bit of a surprise as I love the stuff and serve it up any chance I can get! I chose to ignore it ![]()
Hope going back to work is ok for you, and you find some extra time for yourself hidden away somewhere.
Chilli croutons? Those sound great by themselves!:)
Come on spring!! This soup looks great! I love the vibrant color!
I hope you are feeing better soon Smidge! I think the sight of spring flowers and yummy spring asparagus soup will help get you on the path to recovery soon. Take care, BAM
Ah, what a beautiful post. Am so happy Spring is here
Fantastic soup recipe, green food always seems to fill one with energy and vitality I think….
I’m so, so pleased every time others recognize your worth too–you are a jewel and so multifaceted a jewel at that, that it sometimes takes my breath away.
xoxoxo,
Kathryn
Surely you would have felt better if not cooking this lovely dish, then consuming it ?
I absolutely love the idea of the chilli croutons !
We went on an awesome 16 km bike ride today, straight up and straight back down again. ”Hey! Maybe I could enter the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer” I mused, “this isn’t as difficult as I thought”. I was gently reminded that I could multiply our little morning’s jaunt by 7 and how that would be…
Those look wonderful!
Thanks for your recipe looks delicious, passed it on to the Mrs. she is making it tonight thanks for rib recipe too. Great stuff:)
I’m so glad you liked it:) Thanks for checking out my blog as well! Do you have a blog/website yourself?

Bless! What a lovely post to start the morning on, thank you Smidge!
She is a beautiful find! I’m so glad she found her way back to momma. I love this! Your poem too! Your words always move me
Oh I think dinner is fancy! It looks just incredible!
Beautiful Post – thanks for sharing:)
Wow! The top picture took my breath away. I have this fascination for fog and mist and I always love the mystery they evoke. The poem is an incredible play with words, awesome!
I can believe you saw God my friend – in a cute, cuddly beautiful form surrounded by the wonders of nature
A wonderful recipe accompanying a most spiritual post – I enjoyed it a lot

This is a really lovely post, uplifting and filled with hope. And the pasta is making me hungry!
Your poetry is amazing. I should never read your blog when I am hungry. I may have to go to the store!
Fantastic … speechless …. the photo with the horse is my favorite – beautiful words again combined with wonderful food. You’re an artist. Always nice to do a visit here.
Adore the widdle bunny wunny
Great post
Yes, I like the horse too, and your lovely composition Barbara. Come to think of it, the food doesn’t look bad either. Think you’ve just sold me on another post.
What a beautiful little bunny and great that you were able to capture his image. It still looks like it’s pretty cold where you are. That is definitely a wonderful mid-week meal. I love the spring colours and flavours xx
Lovely poem and what a cute bunny! I especially like your last stanza…
This looks heavenly Smidge! I’m a pasta junkie and love finding new recipes that I know I’ll love.
Beautiful photos as always! And what a beautiful little bunny.
Beautiful poem and particularly like the image of the horse…so much love in your posts…:)
I am impressed so much by the title and the book that you read… Especially when God was a rabbit… And then these photographs… I can’t believe how found you this lovely rabbit… It is amazing photograph… and so lovely standing… Thank you so much, I am almost lost into the words and photographs… Blessing and Happiness, with my love, nia
Synchronicity! Read about rabbits, see rabbit.
Such a comforting dish this, that bridge between chill wet winter and warmth of spring. Lovely and simple and perfect! And the wabbit! What a gift he be on such a morn, in all the same colors as the blessed day! xoxo
Oh Barb I must make this pasta. I’m trying to scale back this week after too much over-consuming. I’m just staring at that pasta and dreaming about how much I’d love some right now. It has all my favourite flavours in it. I will report back after I make it ….in a couple of weeks when I’m back on track again! Another lovely post.
That looks magical. And what wonderful spring greens in the pasta – and the nuts! – sounds delicious.
The photo of the Alberta landscape on a misty morning speaks to my heart, and makes me yearn to travel west again …
It was a beautiful verse that started your post today, Barb. Very enjoyable. A friend and I were just talking, she about using broccolini in pasta and me using asparagus. We laughed and it was said that we should combine the dishes. Well, you just did and added some edamame in the process. It sounds delicious and I can’t wait to send her the link to this post. And baby bunnies are about the most adorable of infants on the planet. What a great photo of what was “a beautiful find,” indeed!
Your beautiful verse really lifts the flagging mid-week spirits with hope and promise…you capture all things beautiful, Smidge! Even a bunny! I think I’d like to check out the book, too…you found some rather impressive inspiration. And you still found time to create a spectacular dish! The total package!
Debra
So beautiful sweetie. What a lovely poem and the photo’s are stunning as usual. Yes, I feel the same every time I am in nature.

Have a great weekend.
*big hugs*
What a lovely post Smidge! I want that bunny! They are such precious little animals.
Mandy
I needed to read this tonight. Refreshing to my soul. And what a wonderful spring dish. I’m preparing this when I return home. The family will love it!
What a brilliant post and lovely poem, so evocative!
Oh the pictures are beautiful and the recipe looks delish, I’m putting it on my menu queue! But the bunny photo steals my heart
He was the sweetest little thing.. or she was lol!
Gorgeous wildlife!! I love these photos. The meal looks delicious too!
I see God in that food for sure. Your work here is almost more than I can grasp with the images, the food, and the poetry. You have many talents it is obvious..which is dominant?
Another read-out-loud post! Love your poetry and pics.
And this pasta dish looks lovely, too!
That looks good enough to eat. Loved your poem and photos too.
OMG, Barbara, I was so taken by that wild baby bunny, so sweet. Nature is indeed a delicate balance. Thank goodness that you found that little sweet bunny. Of course, I have a special place in my heart for bunnies, so forgive me for not even looking at the recipe today; that little baby is so sweet.

That’s a very beautiful poem Barbara – a bewitching combination of words.
I love your poem, and your pictures. You paint such a great mental image, I could see the fog in my mind as well as I could in your photographs. I swear my heart has never truly left Alberta, I love fog on the prairies (except when you have to drive in it!).
Oh my that tortellini just looks phenomenal. So creamy!
Thank you for such a beautiful verse! You always brighten my day.

What a beautiful post. You can almost smell the cool fog in the air with your words… followed by the smell of a delicious dinner. Yum!
Lovely post! I enjoyed the recipe very much, I might try it on Sunday, I like to try new things. Thank you very much for visiting me and following my blog! Nice to meet you! Looking forward to reading more from you and exchanging words!
Regards,
Blaga
God was on your side so you could have those cute little creatures just pose perfectly for your photo shots. Your pasta is so very divine with its springtime flavors.
As always a great post, thank you!
Well, because I am late in my reading this week, it is a good thing my week was fogless until just now, but this was welcome fog for me. Your verse made me see fog as mysterious, intrieguing, wonderous–a place to linger and listen for the voice above all others. Thank you for easing me into my weekend this morning, reminding me to listen closely.
What beautiful poetry, Smidge. Such talent you’ve got. I love that little rabbit, too. And that dish — it looks like something comforting my whole family would enjoy fork after fork.
I’m glad you got a photo of the precious little rabbit before helping it back to its mother.
That was lovely work, that dear little rabbit, a good feed, and that first image so reminded me of home.. have a lovely day smidge. i do hope it is warming up, but it still looks a bit chilly out there.. c
Gorgeous photos and the tortellini looks delicious.
Oh my! The photo of your horse in the birch trees is just magical! I love how you capture moments that elicit such strong feelings and emotion. Thank you! And thank you for the wonderful recipe! It will be on my menu this week along with more batches of Strawberry Shortcake Cookies!!
XO
Gorgeous pictures, lovely poem, and a fitting spring dish. Thank you for sharing Smidge!
A lovely poem, beautiful images and a wonderful recipe to top it off. So nice coming over here and always reading these things smidge
Everything about this post made me feel happy to be alive! It´s wet and grey here, but my damp dogs and chickens are all happy to have us back and then seeing this little rabbit made me realise that everyone needs to be looked after!
Thank you for that lovely and peaceful moment in your verse. And for the sweet smile the baby bunny brought! And also for the great and easy recipe for the pasta dish. Such a nice post to read today, albeit that I am out reading belatedly. Thanks for sharing!
oh! that bunny is just too precious!
Your posts are always so beautiful! And the horse and rabbit…gorgeous! I can’t believe you were able to keep yourself from picking that little bunny up and snuggling it.
The pasta looks fabulous, and what pretty colors!
What a quiet and peaceful poem. Thank you for sharing it with us. This is MY kind of meal Barbara. Everything about it from the bright fresh spring green vegies, to the plump tortellinis AND the ease of preparation. This dish screams, “Make me tonight!”
Dear Smidge, what a beautiful post! I just love your subtleness! <3
I just saw her last night.. With mom and two siblings.. Very playful.. So she’s fine, thank goodness!
You’re welcome:)
It’s a cool, but challenging photo subject.. I think you have to have a good composition to contrast it.. Or you can’t really see the fog. Thanks so much, Malou:)
Such a sweet bunny, only about the size of my hand. My brother-in-law said I should have put a penny in the picture so you could get the size perspective.. Oh well…
Thanks, Misky!
Hahaha.. Me too!! Now I’m hungry. I’m usually posting this the next day when I’m starving and there aren’t any left-overs!
I love that photo! The silvery birch.. So Alberta I think. Thank you for your compliments:)
He (she) was weeally weeally widdle.. Only a few inches..
Food.. Schmood.. It’s all about the bunny:) Just kidding.. Glad you liked it:) xoxo
He sure let me get almost nose-to-whisker with him.. He was so sweet!!
Thanks, Gretchen, I love poetry. Words just pop into my head and I race to write them down before they disappear in the “fog” of my day;)
Love pasta.. I think this one is easy to adapt with different soft cheeses and different veggies.. Thank you !! xoxo
I do have lots of <3 ! Thanks!
Very cool to see that bunny so soon after, nia! xoxo
I know, eh? I love when that happens in life.. I think it’s some sort of sign…
Oh, spree.. He was truly a wonderful gift.. Very unexpected, a lovely surprise in my life:)
I’m just getting back on track myself.. I’m going backwards trying to reply to everyone! It’s so easy to get behind. I’m glad you enjoyed this one! xoxo
All a great combination I thought:)
It’s totally an Alberta landscape, isn’t it.. We had fog again this morning… So come on over!
So.. A bit more serendipity in this post then! First books’nbunnies.. Now friends and veggies.. I like that!! Thanks for always leaving the nicest of comments, John!!
Oh, I’m so glad, Debra.. It was a cool morning, listening to birds call to one another in the fog.. Almost surreal!
Oh.. Yes, you would love the bunny and the horse:) *big hugs* back to you, Sonel!!
It’s fun to read then revisit each other’s posts.. So inspiring, I often want to bookmark every recipe to try!
I know, I was dying to pick it up, but afraid the mother would reject her/him..
He sure stole ours.. We saw him with his brothers/sisters yesterday, frolicking around after dark!!
Thanks:) That’s a big compliment coming from you!
Thanks, Brittany!!
He really was so timid and helpless.. You don’t have to look at the recipe.. There’s always lots of those, but not so many little wee cute bunnies!! Xo Smidge
Thank you.. I love writing poetry.. xoxo
Yes.. I forgot to use the sense of smell.. I was pretty caught up in the sight and sounds of it all.. That would have been cool too!!
Thank you, Bam
xoxoxo
Xoxo Thanks!!!
And I am so late responding.. Some days are like that, eh?? Crazy! I’m glad you visited.. It’s always a treat!! Thank you for your sweet comments!! xoxo
I was just thinking the bunny would have loved some of that asparagus!!
Yes.. She found her baby.. And we saw two more last night!! So happy family reunited!!
Yes… C!! It’s my little (albeit, very very little) city “farmy”, but not really, lol! You would have loved that little guy, except he would devour your veggies which isn’t a good thing:) xoxo
My favorite photo.. The light and fog made it come out silvery.. And I have no idea why, lol! Oh, those cookies.. I’d like one right now!!
I’m always glad to see you visit.. You were gone for too long, Aimee!! We’re all happy to welcome you back!! xoxo
It’s foggy again today!! You’re right.. We need to just stop and take care of each other:)
Oh, I’m so glad, it’s pretty versatile.. Just use veggies and cheese you have on hand:)
Thanks, Sibella.. It was fun to write…xoxo
That is so nice that they are all back together.
Oh, I can TOTALLY relate to that! Ideas totally leave if I don’t write them down FAST!!
My husband thinks I’m crazy when I leap out of bed in the morning..
Baby rabbits ! I love them too, haven’t seen one for years – and I’d quite like your pasta dish for breakfast – the perils of reading blogs early in the morning – and yours is one of my favourites
I have the same problem.. Or reading them at 4 in the afternoon.. When I’m starving!!
I love the pics of the horse and bunny. And that tortellini looks delicious!
What a lovely blog and a delicious looking recipe! Happiness Stan Lives reblogged your wordpress update on following comments, which is how I found my way to you. I am subscribing right now! We have a rabbit warren on our property, too, but I have never seen the babies nor been able to get such a charming close up. I love your mix of recipes and art. Beautiful mystical photos. Brava.
The photos of the horse and the bunny are marvelous. Thank you.
