So much time and effort goes into the Christmas or Holiday dinner..
I like to set up a tablescape that compliments the meal we’ve made to share together.
It should feel special n’est-ce pas?
This year, designing a Scandinavian Christmas Tablescape for our Christmas was pretty simple.
With most of the colors neutral, including the dishes, the food becomes the highlight of the evening.
♥
A white tablecloth, silver candlesticks with white candles.
The champagne flutes have a little gold swirl. Dinner should always begin or finish with a little bubbly, don’t you think?
It’s easy to switch up the accent color every year if you keep the main colors the same..
for me those are white and silver.
♥
I love tablescapes that have a bit of sparkle during the holiday season.
You might recognize the candlesticks and hanging ornaments from last Christmas.
{ My accent color then was Tiffany blue. }
I have four so we can light one each Advent Sunday.
The fifth one in the center will be for Christmas.
♥
The place settings are shown with the same angel feather ornaments that I used for my Angel Advent Calendar..
only this time I printed out names in glitter.
I picked up the red and white table runner and napkins at Golden Acres Garden Senter.
I like folding them and adding them as a layer of color at each place setting.
Usually this is the napkins the guests will use,
but this year I added simple white ones so the colorful ones can remain on the table.
The little red pitcher is from HomeSense.
♥
This little bird { candle } was a gift from my friend Jane last year.
A few simple greens add a contrasting color.
Once I have my table done, it makes every dinner and dinner party before Christmas a special one.
I just wash the linens and dishes and reset the table.
Pretty tablescapes should be for more than just one day.. don’t you think?
♥
What colors will you have at your table and in your home this holiday season?
I’ll be back with a little { healthy } sweet surprise!
Barb, I love the elegance of your holiday table! I especially love how you repurposed pieces from holidays past and intermingled them with new items to freshen things up for another year! All the best to you and your family this holiday season!
I love that you have a theme for Christmas, this white classy look is amazing.
How pretty! Your tablescape looks very special.
It’s lovely, Smidge; no, it’s better than that, it’s incredible. What an honour to have a seat at your table. I know you’re talented in many ways but I think another career for you could have definitely been as a stylist. I’ll be pinning your tablescape for sure xx
Barbara, have missed you world so much – but with my health issue and with me being away travelling … I haven’t been able to.
I’m not going to try to catch up what I have missed.
This is truly very Scandinavian Christmas table – we use linen tea towels as napkins, but striped. I love the crispiness and would love to sit down around your table.
Beautiful, Barbara.
You’re such a good decorator! Great eye. You need to invite all your blogger friends over so we can enjoy in person.;-) Really nice – thanks.
That’s beautiful and I love that little bird candle – he look slike he’s just stopped for a rest as he’s so full of lunch 😉
Oh, that is one gorgeous tablescape Barbara! Could I come for Christmas dinner? 🙂
I’d love that, Lidia!
Hi Barbara,
I’ve been following your ideas for Scandinavian Christmas decorating closely. My Dad was Norwegian / Swedish and I think he’d approve. 🙂 As we lead up to the holiday season, I hope you stay happy and warm!
That’s so good to know, Kathi.. I was hoping I was pretty close to the mark:) Nice to have you back in Calgary!
What a beautiful table Smidge. I wish I could borrow your talents for a week around my house. 🙂
Love the bird candle!
So did I, Sharyn, it was a sweet gift for Christmas time:)
That is so stunning it takes my breath away.
Your tablescape just isn’t nice to look at, Barb, but it sets the tone for the dinner. Anyone lucky enough to be seated there knows they’re about to take part in something special. Isn’t that way one should feel an a holiday dinner? Very nicely done.
I love eating with a lovely table scape. It adds so much. This is beautiful.
I know I say this all the time, but could you please come over and style my house? Pretty please? I just love the simplicity of the red, white, and green with hints of silver. It’s so easy to overdo it, and your table is absolute perfection! xx
It’s always such a treat coming to your blog and seeing the beautiful things you’ve been working on! Can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve for your next post. 🙂 ~ April
