I had as much fun crafting as I did baking and cooking in 2013!
Here are your favorites, the Top 10 DIY and Crafts from last year.. my Vintage Christmas Wreath really wanted to be included,
but to be fair, selection was made only from the top 10 projects of 2013.
Number 10
I loved making these 2014 Calendars.. but I loved sharing them with my family and friends even more.
They were the perfect affordable project for Christmas.. I’m already planning next years.
Number 9
I loved recovering this cheerful raspberry red velvet footstool.
With all the mud and snow this winter, it’s come in very handy for my purses this winter.
{ Looking back at the photos, I see that my studio was so tidy, it might be time for a post-Christmas clean, sigh. }
Number 8
This Rose Petal Sugar Body Scrub was hands down one of my favorites.
The color was so pretty, the fragrance soft and inviting, but I loved that it worked better than most store-bought scrubs
and is organic for your skin. I need to find a way to package this and sell it.
Number 7
I made this Freshwater Seashell Wreath just days before our trip to Italy.
Now I’ll be longing for the ocean all day.
It’s always been a secret dream of mine to live on the ocean, not a huge mansion, just a tiny
white house with a front veranda and steps that lead to the sand and beach.
Number 6
It was fun breaking these vintage dishes to make my Tea Saucer Mosaic.
I know there are more mosaic projects in my future, I’d love to make a mosaic clock or refinish a small tabletop.
Number 5
There’s no escaping the snow here in Calgary, these Wintery Snow Feather Trees were so easy to make.
You’ll see them again in a White Winter Tablescape I’ll be photographing soon.
Number 4
There’s nothing more satisfying that finding inspiration at my favorite shop, Pottery Barn,
and then taking those ideas to create a project even prettier.
This Autumn Wreath is my favorite Fall wreath (right after my Vintage Christmas Wreath, lol).
Number 3
It’s no secret I love anything vintage, especially old technology.
These Hipstagram Polaroid Photo Coasters were popular on the internet,
so I must not be the only one who loves the past.
Number 2
These Thanksgiving Birch Bark Candles were reblogged, with and without permission on so many other websites.
I think it’s the simplicity of these candles, they take so little time and look so pretty.
and finally..
Number 1
I must admit, these Vintage Chippy Teacup Votives are one of my favorite projects this year as well.
They were picked up by Buzzfeed as one of their “30 Thank-You Gifts a Teacher Would Actually Want”..
which is so fitting since I used to be a teacher!
♥
If you’re a visitor, welcome and please stay a while.. I hope you find a little inspiration!
If you’re a blogger.. what projects or food dishes were your most popular creations this year?
Great list! And they were all nifty projects. Happy New Year!
Barbara, your beautiful world … what would I do without it … that seashell wreath and that saucer mosaic. And the feather trees …
Barbara, thank you for all the beauty, prettiness, great tastes …. during 2013. And thanks for being you. I wish you and your loved ones Only The Best for 2014. Looking forward to our 2014.
Viveka.. what would the world be without our group of bloggers:) Wishing you a most wonderful New Year.. may 2014 be the best yet for you! xx
Number 4, autumn wreath and number 2 birch bark candle are my favorites. All the very best to you and your family for 2014.
I loved that wreath so much, Norma, I moved it to the side door because I didn’t want to put it away, lol. Wishing you and your family the most wonderful Christmas season and happiest New Year!
I love the design on the Antique Teacups, my grandmother collected a pattern that was similar to that one. All of these are great, I think I like the autumn wreath and the birch bark candles the best. Nice work Barbara! 😉
I had missed the tea cup votives (I just love blue and white china) and the mosaic. That was a stunning project. I hope when it warms up here that my boys and I can make stepping stones for one of our gardens. I’m thinking broken, vintage plates will be used in several of my stones (I love that look).
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us in 2013!
Best wishes,
Allison
What a wonderful assortment of beautifully crafted items, Barb. Each bears testament to your skills and creativity. If I had to pick a favorite — no easy task — I’d choose the Autumn Wreath. It would be such a nice welcome for all who enter through the door. But you knew that already, didn’t you? 🙂
Wising you and all the Smidgens every Happiness in the New Year, Barb.
Thanks so much.. and yes, I already knew..:) I wonder if my family knows they’re Smidgens:D
Happy New Year Smidge! Wishing you all the best for 2014 and thank you for a lovely 2013 with all of your crafty ideas and baking. I could only ever hope to achieve just one from your top 10 list. I love them all so it would be too difficult to choose a favorite. However, one that did not make your top 10 but I really loved was the summer hobo bag that you made for your daughter… adorable. Take Care and stay warm! BAM
I loved that one too! So I’m doing one with the blog posts I love, lol. I was so sad it didn’t make it:D Happy New Year to you!!
As always, beautiful! Happy new year, Barbara. 🙂
Happy New Year Smidge… to you and yours. Love following your thoughts, ideas and creations. Your posts are always a joy to read. Best in 2014 and hope you continue to enjoy sharing your world and inspirations. cheers xx wendy
While God did give me gifts they aren’t ‘creative’ ones… but my favourite of yours was the tea cup mosaic… #6.. Hope 2014 brings you many more ideas and I know it will…. Happy New year Barbara Diane
Smidge darling, I’m very behind on my blog reading, but I LOVED this post! You didn’t have my favourite item you made this year though – your boho gypsy sling bag! 🙂 The teacup votives come a close second though. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family! 🙂
Smidgen, every time in read about your crafts, I want to run to the store and gather all the items to replicate your beautiful creations. I adore the coasters and votives!!
