It’s no surprise to most of you that I love hearts..
{ like these Blushing Marshmallow Hearts }
Soon it will be Valentine’s Day..
I’ll never forget the packages of Valentine’s my students brought to Kindergarten,
each one signed in pencil and stashed into their friend’s heart-shaped pouch.
♥
I wanted to look back at a few of my favorite
projects and recipes..
this Ombre Valentine Heart craft would make a pretty gift for someone special.
These Rice Krispie Hearts dipped in blushing white chocolate were so easy to make!
Do you remember these Mini Sunkissed Lemon Linzer Cookies?
I gifted little cello packages of these Sweetheart Rose Petal Soaps and..
vintage looking jars of Rose Petal Scrub last year.
These SweetAmbs Brushed Embroidery Cookies are a touch fussy to make,
but wouldn’t they be a pretty teacher’s gift?
I loved these little strawberry hearts in this Spring Oranges Pound Cake.
I think you could add them to the top of any cake.
I remember that I made a little video to go with this recipe as well!
This Red Velvet Chambord Surprise ♡ Cake with Ruffled Frosting
was for a special friend.
One of my blogging friends suggested these Snowberries would be lovely at Valentine’s Day, not just Christmas
and I agree!
I just might make these again and serve them with this pretty cocktail…
a Hypnos’ Blood Orange Martini!
And last, but definitely not least, I just might have to kick up the heat and make a batch of these
El Diablo Red Velvet Saigon Cinnamon Brownies
Don’t forget those roses..
I Heart Valentine’s Day!
♥
Finally, a wee bit of news.. Just a Smidgen is going to be published in the
Stampington’s Artful Blogging Magazine’s Spring 2014 Issue!
This magazine was such a beautiful source of inspiration when I first started blogging, so it’s an honor to be included in this issue. My article is called “One Artist’s Journey” and it comes out February 1st. If you are interested, you can purchase this magazine oneline or at any book store that carries Stampington magazines. In Canada you can find them in the magazine section of Chapters.Indigo Book Stores and I’ve seen them at Michaels as well.
Congratulations on being published!
Your blog is amazing 🙂
Thanks so much:D
My guy and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I always feel bad when the day passes and I didn’t even give him a card. When I saw the mini sunkissed lemon linzer cookies, I knew it was perfect! His favorite flavor and just a quick sweet gift. Thanks for the great idea 🙂
PS – Congratulations on getting published in the magazine! That’s wonderful.
We don’t do anything too big for Valentine’s Day either.. I hope your guy loves those cookies:D
Barb, you are always so prepared with all your great ideas! I haven’t even thought of the 14th yet 🙂 And I just wanted to wish you a big congratulations on your upcoming article — that is fantastic! Well deserved and I’m sure many many more publications to come! Best, Danny
Haha, I’ve thought about it but haven’t done anything this year yet, Danny! I’ve got a few ideas though, our puppy is keeping me pretty busy so it’s hard to get to:D
Congratulations on being published, Smidge! I ♥ your hearts. Beautiful post. 🙂
Thanks, Robin, it’s so great to see you here:D
Congrats congrats congrats my friend! You deserve it all and more 😀
And gorgeous Valentines day round up!
Cheers
CCU
Thanks, CCU:D
Wow! A big congrats to you, Smidge and so well deserved. Everything about your blog screams ‘very talented artist’. I will try to see if I can get a copy of the magazine here although I think I might have a battle. I remember and love so many of these beautiful Valentine’s Day treasures. I might try to make the soaps this year xx
Congrats Barbara!! How exciting for you, especially from a source that was your inspiration at the start! I’m a sucker for hearts, that is romance, love and on and on! And add to that chocolate and I’m totally in love!!
Congratulations Barbara that’s very exciting news!
I love (no pun intended) all your Valentine’s posts especially the embroidery cookies. They’re beautiful!
Lovely!!! And congrats!
I’ve just spent some time going through your photo gallery, Rebecca. There isn’t a “blog” section so I couldn’t comment there, so I wanted you to know you’ve got some really lovely photographs on your site!
These all look wonderful Barbara! I especially like the bBushing Marshmallow Hearts and the Red Velvet Chambord Surprise Cake. You r cake looks really delicious, I am going to try this one. Would you send me an email and let me know where you purchased your white cake pedestal? I have been looking for one of these.
Our weather turned extremely cold after lunch today, just checked the temperature and it’s 11 degrees but no snow! 🙂
I got long winded in my post and forgot to congratulate you on being selected to be in the magazine!!! Yea!! 🙂
Thanks, Michael:)
Congratulations Barbara! I love that magazine and am delighted you will be featured in it. I forgot all about Valentines day as everyone here in China is so obsessed with Chinese New Year there is not one heart shaped anything to be found here so will have to make some of your Valentines day recipes to compensate. Take Care, BAM
Barb, congrats on the Stampington publication! That’s a big deal for sure. I’ve always admired the magazine as well and I think you are perfectly suited to it. Wow! I now know someone who is published. Thanks!
Wow! That’s so exciting, but I’m not surprised! Look at your creations! Everything is just so gorgeous. Love how you turned those Rice Krispy treats into such pretty hearts 🙂
