Oh.. how summer has slipped away on me.. these little soaps were to be made, well, midsummer.. better late then never?
♥
The cowslips tall her pensioners be:
In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours,
In those freckles live their savours:
I must go seek some dewdrops here
And hang a pearl in every cowslip’s ear.
♥
These beautiful soaps were so easy to make..
and in very little time..
♥
A little shea butter soap base to begin
{ I used about a 1/2 pound or a 1/4 of the 2 lb package per batch}
melted it through..
added a teaspoonful of peppermint and mint extract
and
a teaspoonful of rose water then
stirred together..
..adjust the “flavorings” until the fragrance lifts and pleases you.
♥
Once they began setting..
I sprinkled a smidgen of A Midsummer Night’s Dream Tea from David’s Tea over top and pressed gently into the soap..
“Summer Love”
“This citrusy-mint tea is refreshingly magical, with sweet apples, cool spearmint, tart gooseberries, orange oil, and petals of marigold and rose. But before you take a sip, we should probably warn you that it’s a bit of a love potion. For some people, it seems to turn regular summer evenings into dreamlike nights of romance and enchantment. Ice it and see what happens. Caffeine-free.”
“Ingredients: Apple pieces, spearmint, freeze-dried whole cape gooseberries, marigold blossoms, safflowers, rose petals. With artificial flavouring.”
♥
Once firmly set { I left mine over night } make a pot of A Midsummer Night’s Dream Tea,
draw a hot bath.. light a candle or two
♥
perhaps turn a few damp-warped pages from your book of plays..
and soak away the day’s wearies with your little bar of soap..
and dream of
summer.. love
♥
“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”

These would make a sweet gift for weddings, bridal showers, teachers and friends..
Just pour the soap into little silicone cupcake cups instead..
I think they’d be adorable little gifts at baby showers too.. along with a baby soap dish..
- 1/4 block in chunks (of a 2 lb) package Shea Butter Soap { Michaels Hobby Shop }
- 1 tsp peppermint and mint extract
- 1 tsp rose water
- 1 small package A Midsummer Night's Dream Tea { David's Tea }
- 2 cup pyrex measuring cup
- plastic spoon
- 5-6 silicone cupcake liners
- small non-stick loaf pan 5 1/2" x 3" x 2 1/4" high mine are from Williams-Sonoma
- Prepare a tiny non-stick loaf pan (5 1/2" x 3" x 2 1/4" high) by measuring and cutting out then lining the bottom of the loaf pan with a piece of waxed paper.
- Cut out 1/4 of the 2 lb packaged block of Shea butter. Cut into 1" chunks and put in a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup. Microwave in 30 second bursts 2 to 3 times, checking and stirring frequently with a plastic spoon until all of the soap has melted.
- Pour into prepared loaf pan.
- Alternately, pour into silicone cupcake liners. 1/4 of the package will make about 5 soaps.
- Allow the soap's surface to cool and begin setting.
- Sprinkle the tea overtop and press gently into the surface of the soap.
- Allow to set completely overnight. To remove, heat a knife under hot running water then cut around the edge of the loaf pan, the soap will pop out, then remove the waxed paper. To cut into squares, heat the knife again and slice. To remove from the muffin cups, just pop them out as you would a muffin.
So beautiful! You always amaze me with your creativity!
I will probably never make soap, but I’d certainly buy these gorgeous soaps!
Absolutely beautiful Barbara. I would really love to receive this home made soap as a gift.
These soaps are so pretty, and I like the idea of using tea for the topping. These would make wonderful hostess gifts!
What beautiful soaps–almost too pretty to use!
These are just the sweetest little soaps, Smidge. I love the addition of the tea sprinkled on top. I would love to receive these as a little gift, so I am sure I will make a point to gather my ingredients and follow suit! They are really charming. 🙂
