Coastal Summer

even the dog days of summer have come and gone

“Dog Days: the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun: from July 3 to August 11, a period marked by lethargy, inactivity, or indolence”

we’re heading into the home stretch of August

but i still have ocean and lake dreams

i haven’t been able to make it to either place this summer

work has been keeping me away..

but a girl can still dream

and bring the lake and the ocean into her home

i hope you love the calming turquoise and white accents as much as i do..

i rented this apartment because of its loft feel and abundance of windows and light

fall seems in the distant future and i’d rather not think about that right now

let’s just rest a moment in the slanting rays of sun,

shall we

“Summer has filled her veins with light and her heart is washed with noon.”

C. Day Lewis

soft touches of turquoise, white coral and a miniature blue “fishing weight”

pick up the color in the pillows behind

i love that the famous designer Barbara Barry has the same name as me

i could give you the source for everything..

but i’ve had these accessories for a few years

they just seem fresh and new arranged differently here

the small white love seat, rug and pillows are a mix of IKEA, Chapters and Pottery Barn, the tray is from Pier One
and the stacked baskets are from IKEA, both lamps are Barbara Barry

yes.. i still have a fur throw, it’s my puppy’s favorite place to curl up and sleep

i added this sheer curtain to let Bella go out to the deck whenever she wants, this was so inexpensive, i picked it up at Bali and Beyond

my fiscus plant moved to a new sunny corner in the kitchen

i’ve fallen in love with the Plant store in Inglewood, this delicate Jasmine plant has fragrant white blossoms that are so pretty

and my unwrapped life

milk candle is from the Kingsland Market

yes.. the dog days of summer are done, but this little one still loves to laze around

love and blessings,

smidge
