just a smidgen

first spring rain

first spring rain

i am
certain
the bright
sun
must
be rising stoic,
somewhere
out there,
just past the
tawny
deer grazed
field-
but
here it
hides shy,
cloaked in
damp layered
cloud

let it
linger,
just there
a while,
leave us
shelter wrapped
in heavy blankets
and bent
willow chairs,
while
morning
bird chorus
brisk rises
amidst the
wet leafed
and
trembling
branches that
drizzle rain

our drenched
mud thick road
arcing rises
off into
oblivion
but
sheltered bees,
the vestal virgins
and we too..
will hidden
stay,
enchanted
by this
harmonic singing
refuge
