We used to pick up burgers from an awesome local caterer for our family barbecues.
Unfortunately she retired, sold her business and the new owner doesn’t make these.
Left to my own devices, I decided to create my own version and I think it’s pretty close to the original.
If you love a messy hamburger these won’t disappoint, they’re juicy and thick enough that the bun slides off the top!

Spicy Juicy Curry Burgers

So many spices to season this burger and just the right amount of heat!

Serves: 10 large
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
- 3 tbsp cream
- 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 4 tsp ketchup
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 jalapeno pepper, minced
- 4-6 cloves garlic
- 1 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup curry powder, or to taste
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp garam masala
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium high heat.
- In a large bowl mix together the beef, egg, dry breadcrumbs, cream, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced jalapeno, garlic, and ginger. Do not overwork the beef mixture.
- In a small bowl blend the spices from the curry powder through to the garam masala. Sprinkle over the meat mixture then work in using your hands. Shape into patties about 1/2" thick and four inches wide. Season both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
- Lightly grease the grill with oil, then place the burger patties on, cook for approximately 8 minutes before flipping, grill until cooked through.
