Bella’s Biscuits ~ Homemade Dog Treats

Barbara Bamber — Sat, 25 Jan 2014 10:51:58 +0000

Magical dog-leash romps through frosted streets and princess crystal iced trees.. clear sailing ahead! Nothing could be more “Canadian” than a winter day like this! Thick flocked fences lined our streets that morning.. I love hoar frost! In Calgary, we often are gifted this beautiful visual experience due to warmer Chinook winds colliding with our […]

Walmart vs Safeway ~ Food Thrifting

Barbara Bamber — Tue, 14 Jan 2014 15:04:58 +0000

I quickly popped into Williams Sonoma on a Saturday evening around 5:30 pm to pick up a bag of my favorite gluten free Cup4Cup flour and was shocked at the large volume of people still shopping. We seem to have become an insatiable society of consumers looking for the next big score on their hunt […]

Barbara Bamber — Thu, 05 Dec 2013 16:41:47 +0000

Welcome to our home.. living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains means lots of snow both expected and unexpected.. I have a few of these silver orbs placed throughout my front rock garden. I love how they sparkle under a blanket of snow near our blue spruce trees. ♥ So come on over.. the […]

A Charming Christmas Wreath

Barbara Bamber — Tue, 19 Nov 2013 18:10:19 +0000

This Christmas wreath took me a week to make, our little “Tomboy”, Bella seems to have attached herself to us and won’t be left for a second. It’s tough trying to use wires and a glue gun whilst holding a puppy, playing fetch and going for walks. { But she is so dang […]

In Flanders Fields

Barbara Bamber — Mon, 11 Nov 2013 15:53:05 +0000

In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now […]

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Barbara Bamber — Mon, 14 Oct 2013 16:30:25 +0000

“It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” has got to be one of my favorite movies. I love Linus’ unwaivering belief in The Great Pumpkin, Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel fighter plane and his battle with the Red Baron, for some reason he reminds me of my younger brother Richard, who had a passion for war airplanes. Charlie […]

An Autumn Evening – Lucy Maud Montgomery

Barbara Bamber — Sun, 13 Oct 2013 16:15:56 +0000

Autumn is the such a brief but beautiful gift. I love this poem “An Autumn Evening” by Lucy Maud Montgomery, because she transforms bare trees into harps for the wind. She reminds us there is still joy to be found in our life’s change of seasons as well, a poem like this reminds us to […]

A Class of Students ~ A Clutch of Wings

Barbara Bamber — Tue, 10 Sep 2013 14:16:51 +0000

There is something so evocative about watching wild birds at play in the hush of the wee morning hours, before everyone wakes and the tumult of the day begins. The Fall will always bring to mind my days as a school teacher, classroom resplendent in orange, red and yellow leaves. These birds reminded me so […]

Tumbling into Fall ~ Autumn Seasonal Decor

Barbara Bamber — Thu, 05 Sep 2013 13:05:11 +0000

{ those are vintage Baking Powder tins without labels } The thing about our seasons in Canada, is that they creep in far too early. The earths is rushing to mature little berries while the hot sun has begun whitewashing our potted, tired flowers. I thought it might just be time to put away { […]

♥ Contrary to popular belief.. my dog days of summer show no signs of abating today. ♥ I’ve missed you and I so look forward to catching up with you once I’m back home again. But until this mad summer escape shifts into reverse and we ease together back into fall’s rigor… I’ve […]
