“A single rose can be my garden.. a single friend my world.”

Endive 2

I know.. I said Daisies were my favorite..

And before that it was peonies

But I think I’ve fallen in love again.. check out the pretty green frilly edges of these roses.

{ who am I kidding.. I just need a flower shop }

They have the coolest double swirled centers in some.

I know it must be my imagination, but I could swear my wine tonight tasted like rose petals!

It was a 2011 Black Hills Nota Bene

Apparently it has notes of “blackberry, cherry, plum and chocolate. The palate delivers rich dark fruits with a hint of sage brush and notes of fine cocoa tannins.”

So no rose petals, but I could have sworn there was…

I spent yesterday afternoon with some of the most beautiful women..  I’m so blessed that they are my friends.

I spent the entire morning chatting with my sweet cousin, planning our week long trip to the lake together!! I can’t wait!!

♥

And tonight we are nestled inside, escaping the torrential downpour that has caused flooding all over Calgary, Bragg Creek, High River, Canmore..  pretty much all of Southern Alberta.

We have had evacuations on a scale never seen in our city.

Four of my friends have been evacuated. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.

Click on this link to see flooding in Canmore just an hour west of us.

For more video I’ve shared a few on my personal facebook page.

It’s shocking to see familiar landmarks buried in water.

My heart goes out to families I know who have lost so much in this flood.

Our lives can unexpectedly take a turn..

in mere seconds.

I have been so impressed with the quick response by the city to shore up the riverbanks and ensure that those affected were given ample notice to evacuate…

and amazed by the quick offers of support all over the social media.

Friends helping friends.

I don’t think I’ll ever take my home for granted again.

♥

On a brighter note..

June 21st is my lovely mother’s birthday.. she’s a beautiful as these roses…

and I’m the luckiest daughter in the world.

Her name is June..
and she was born on the first day of Summer ♥

This quote below was so fitting, you see..
my mom can paint the most stunning flowers.. and roses.

Enough said.

♥

Well, this is an Earthly Bouquet of a different sort, isn’t it?

How could I resist the pinks, purples and whites of these radishes? I think they might be heirloom radishes, maybe one of you knows?

I also just found out that Endive belong to the Daisy Family, so it seems
flowers are everywhere in my kitchen these days!

♥

This is a no-recipe recipe..

just changed up so it would be Gluten-Free by swapping out the bread slices for endive.

♥

Belgian Endive petals, a smear of Boursin soft cheese, and paper thin slices of these pretty radishes.

Salt & Pepper

Oh, please don’t forgot the chives, they didn’t make it into this photo!
