It’s been some time since I’ve shared a tablescape with you… especially a mason jar tablescape!
I have a little collection of vintage mason and apothecary jars, don’t you love this teal blue color?
If you can’t find them at an antique shop, Michael’s has some smaller new ones in this color.
They would be so beautiful for an outdoor wedding..
I picked up two bunches of these peonies at the local grocer after seeing some at Sue’s the other night for Book Club.
Our next book is “The Art of Hearing Heartbeats”. We felt like reading a good romance novel before we break for the summer.
When I picked up a bunch, they were just small, tightly closed buds.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from them but a bit of color.
But as they began to open up, I was shocked at how gargantuan they are! They’re seven inches across!
They have such intricate ruffles,
and are such a favorite, that I have planted..
five
peony bushes in my garden.
Now I’ll be swatting the ants away..
With the late spring we’re having, my garden perennials have barely begun to grow,
so these lovely store-bought bunches are a welcome sight!
Best of all, you can’t beat the price! I think they were $5 and change, much less than these ones from the flower shop.
I picked these up at Safeway in Aspen Landing.
Anyway, I hope they just keep on blooming!
Teal always reminds me of the ocean, you might remember last spring’s Seascape Tablescape.
after returning from the Isle of Capri and Italy.
This Mason Jar Tablescape is much simpler, with a lineup of vases and flowers in the center on a linen table runner..
the teal flower topped candle was from Anthropologie a few years back, a few breakfast bowls..
Here is the view from the other side..
This little sea glass weight came home from the lake with me last summer, I wish I had more of them..
I love the little metal sealing hooks on some of the jars.
What flowers do you have in your garden? Do you collect vintage jars?
Gorgeous photos 🙂
Beautiful, Smidge. I love those teal jars, and the peonies go perfectly with them.
Thank you so much, Robin:)
What an absolutely beautiful post! I love peonies and mine are just about to bloom. Years ago I started with just two plants and have since split them so that I now have plenty. You’ve done such a beautiful tables ape but oh, the memories you’ve brought back with the jars with the wires. Sad to say that my mother had probably over a hundred of them that she threw away once the screw top jars came out. I’m now going to have to scour the vintage shops in search of some, especially the blue. I just noticed that Target had some of the blue ones on sale this week although of course not with the wires.
Oh, the thought of losing all of those jars, but who knew back then? I hope you are able to locate a few, over time you’ll build up a collection before you know it:)
You have such talent at making a table look pretty, with just a few simple touches! The peonies are gorgeous Barbara!
Thanks, Cathy, do you grow peonies in your garden??
I do Barbara, and they are filling my home with fragrance right now! 🙂
Wonderful!! Mine haven’t even sprouted buds yet, lol!
Smidge, your photos are always so soothing and beautiful! But seven inches across, how huge were those peonies! Stunning too! 🙂
I know, eh?? They look even more massive this morning as they are finishing opening up. I’ve never seen anything like it.. certainly not in my own garden, lol.
It’s so funny that you posted these Smidge. I was at a French market over the weekend and they had a little stand for lovely antiques and home decor. It instantly reminded me of you! They even had the colored mason jars and I almost bought some! I just might before the summer is over. 🙂
I’d love to live near that French market.. it could be dangerously tempting, but I’d take that chance:D
I love the blue jars. I haven’t seen any in that shade of blue before. They’re gorgeous. But the peonies…when closed they’re stunning but then when they open up; amazing. I can’t believe they’re 7 inches across – huge! They would be sure to brighten any room xx
I think they’re even bigger this morning, it’s crazy.. jumbo peonies! I wonder if they’re GMO;)
I always love your pictures — you have such a gorgeous style. Really fun stuff — thanks.
[…] These peonies { that get larger by the day } and vintage mason jars are in my May kitchen and the blue and white color scheme continues onto the island with some more tablescape ideas for spring. But shouldn’t this be called an “Islandscape” instead;) In the background is a pretty honeybee hive drink dispenser I picked up at HomeSense a few years ago. […]
Beautiful, Barbara! I bought a whole set of blue Mason jars just to use as drinking glasses. 🙂
I’d love those!! Mine are too rustic to drink out of unfortunately..
