It’s Never Too Late

It’s Never Too Late

It’s never too late,
and surely you know there’s never enough time
and there’s definitely never the right time,
to remind yourself
that it’s time to leave,
to make a clean sweep
of it all.
Don’t give it a thought,
you know that time always takes care of itself,
and in due time
it will take care of you as well.

You’ll discover that,
despite all of your maps
and all of your carefully unscripted plans,
there is a moment when you realize
that what you have been searching for
was there all along,
hiking quietly inside you,
wondering when you’d finally lift your head
to see with clearer eyes.

You’ll realize that all you ever needed to do
was shoulder the weight of your pack,
carry the essentials for your survival
and bring urgency and the true fullness of every expectation
you’ve ever carried
and the belief
that you would rise to the occasion.

Deep in a snow covered forest,
you’ll finally see something
familiar in those lofty mountains,
hear an echo you can’t quite place
in those easy going and ambling creeks,
and find a deeply felt congruence
in the soaring buttress of crested cliffs
rising above humble
sheep crossed meadows.

You’ll discover certain beauty there,
even in that one simple tree that touches a sky so blue it hurts
and with sudden astonishment,
turning full circle round, you are forced to reconcile,
at long last,
that this same world
was the one that made you.

Love,

Barbara

Photo taken at the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, a place of inexplicable beauty, circled by various stunning peaks scrambled/climbed by my partner David Salahub. (Warden, Maze, Evangeline, Poplar, Dormer, Labyrinth and more). On the way there a beautiful fox ran across the road in front of us, an augury of the day to come. Then we crossed paths with beautiful wild horses of Alberta. “Roaming free across the foothills of Alberta, wild horses are part of our province’s heritage—and its heart.”

It was a magical hike, the Evangeline and Poplar Loop, 8.2 km of incredible temperatures and freshest mountain and forest views.  First hike along the frozen creek to the Bighorn Falls..

and head out from there..

yours truly (Smidge) and intrepid peak bagger and patient Jedi hiking master 😉 Dave Salahub

If the gate is open, head up for a closer look at the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch..

Even the drive home graced us with magical low laying cloud..

Love,

Smidge
