Here is a peak at the “gear” you’ll need to get started, the little container on the far right is Shea Butter:

Sweet Honey Raspberry Lip Balm
Serves: 9-11 small pots of balm
Ingredients
- 10 fresh raspberries
- 1/4 cup beeswax
- 1/8 cup coconut oil
- 1/8 cup shea butter
- 1/2 tsp sweet almond oil (for skin care)
- 2 tsp acacia honey
- 1/8 - 1/4 tsp raspberry candy flavoring*
- 10-12 small plastic containers with lids removed*
Instructions
- Put the raspberries in a one cup pyrex glass and add a tiny splash of water. Microwave on high for 20-25 seconds. Remove and strain by pressing the raspberries through a fine sieve. Set aside the raspberry juice and discard the pulp.
- Cut the edge of a beeswax block off into slivers using a sharp, heavy knife. It is easier to slice thinner slivers. Continue until you have 1/4 cup. In a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup or a small pot, combine the beeswax slivers, coconut oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, and honey. Microwave for 20 seconds, repeating and stirring until everything is melted together. I had a plastic spoon that I kept in the measuring cup so that I could easily stir and have less mess. If you are using a pot, put over low heat and stir continuously until melted.
- Stir in the raspberry juice and raspberry candy flavoring. Using a vigorous, whisking motion, blend the ingredients together the best you can without getting the mixture up the sides of the cup. The raspberry juice tends to separate from the rest of the liquid, but as it begins cooling it will blend better. Do not allow it to cool too much as the balm will set and stick to the sides of the measuring cup and become difficult to pour.
- Pour the balm into each plastic container, set aside to cool and firm. When cool, screw the lids on and use immediately, setting extras aside in the fridge for use later.
Notes
*Most ingredients were found at our local whole foods or community health natural foods grocery stores. The cups and candy flavoring were found at Michael's, our local hobby store.

Crushed Rose Petal Sparkle Lip Balm
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp beeswax
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp shea butter
- 1/8 cup dried crushed rose petals (organic, non-pesticide)*
- 1 tbsp rose water*
- 1/4 vial Orchid Pink Pearl Dust**
- 10-12 small plastic containers with lids removed
Instructions
- Cut the edge of a beeswax block off into slivers using a sharp, heavy knife. It is easier to slice thinner slivers. Continue until you have 2 tbsp. In a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup or a small pot, combine the beeswax slivers, coconut oil, and shea butter. Microwave for 20 seconds, repeating and stirring until everything is melted together. I had a plastic spoon that I kept in the measuring cup so that I could easily stir while microwaving and have less mess. If using a pot, melt over low heat, stirring continuously.
- Stir in the crushed rose petals and rose water. Stir together to blend. Sprinkle in the Orchid Pink Pearl dust and gently stir, whisking together to blend. Do not allow the mixture to cool too much as the balm will set and stick to the sides of the measuring cup and become difficult to pour.
- Pour the lip balm into each plastic container, set aside to cool and firm. When cool, screw the lids on and use immediately, setting extras aside in the fridge for use later.

Oh Smidge, I love your balms!
Have a beautiful day.
🙂 Mandy xo
You too Mandy!! xx
What a great idea! Gorgeous photos 🙂
Thanks Sarah, they were fun to make:D
Oh neighbor and soul sister! I am new to your blog and loving it! I’ve been collecting up the wild rose petals on my Alberta acerage and finding so many things to do with them, jam, sugar scrubs, vinegars and sodas… but have not yet incorporated them into my homemade lip balms!!! You’re a genious! A beautiful, creative genius! Thanks for the inspiration and the great tip about the Pearl Dust! Wow! Wanna come over for Wild Rose Tea some time???
Awesome to have you here Tara/Soul Sister:D I can’t wait to see what you’ve done with your local foraging.. I would love some home grown Wild Rose Tea!! xx
How very, very lovely – want to give this a try!
It’s easier than most recipes and nice to have control over what goes on my lips;)
I wish I could buy your balms my friend, they are so beautiful and summery! 😀
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Heehee.. it would be fun to sell but they’re so tiny to ship:D
This totally speaks to my earthy soul!! I LOVE it! Such a classy shade too.
Love your “earthy soul” Britt.. that’s why I follow your blog:) Have an awesome day!
I’d love to make this lip balm. Absolutely gorgeous, Smidge. Over here, summer isn’t necessarily the season for brides. Getting married in summer is risky due to the heat and humidity – you can end up walking down the aisle a sweating mess! Sadly – that was my wedding day! xx
I can’t imagine you looking anything but spectacular on your wedding day! We had a hot and muggy one on the Stampede Grounds yesterday.. so I sure understand what you’re saying!
I’m not really into this sort of lipbalm 😉 but Mrs KR should would be — gotta tell her about this. Love your pictures — I know I’ve said this before, but I really enjoy your style. Thanks.
Haha.. yup, this one is for the ladies:D
I love these recipes! Good, clean ingredients with beautiful color (and I’m sure scent!) Thanks 🙂
These are lovely, such a cute product!
They look beautiful and soothing! 🙂
You are so clever! Even natural lip balm–and YES, they make wonderful gifts! I am so glad to see that Celebrating Every Day LIfe is in digital format! As soon as I figure out what I’m going to do to make some room on my “overstuffed” iPad–yes, I need to do that to free memory–I’m going to download. I am so intrigued by it. Congratulations on your wonderful opportunities to share your creativity in another exciting way!
My laptop is stuffed full.. it’s the photos I take. I am trying to stop being so shutter happy and take only a few of each project.. it’s so hard to do, lol!
Smidge, I love this post. So girly and feminine just like you, well minus the cowgirl boots… LOL I think I would have a hard time not eating this lip gloss as it not only sounds nourishing but delicious too. Take care, BAM
This looks like a fantastic recipe – just wondering if it would go good in lip balm tubes – since those are the containers I have on hand. Or is this a super soft balm?
Hi Ramona, this set up firmly in my tubs. I am not home right now to do a finger test to see if it presses easily, but I don’t recall it doing so at all. Maybe buy the others to have on hand, try one and see how it goes. If it works you could return the containers you didn’t use. Then remelt the balm and finish up? Another thing to think about is that I don’t think any of these would do well in a hot car with that sort of tube that you just press on? The containers I have are a twist top.

These look great! Just wondering how long do they last before they go bad? Since there’s fresh raspbeeet juice in it? Thanks
I’m so sorry to have taken so long to answer your question!! I still have some from when I made this batch 😀 and they don’t have any sort of odor or “off” smell at all. I did find that the one type did separate a bit when cooling.. so to be 100% certain, I think I would let them cool in the fridge and keep the extras there until using. But as far as staying fresh with real raspberries juice.. there wasn’t any of that to worry about! Hope that helps!!
